Calling all Musicians!!
Pacific Oncology presents a unique opportunity:
We are searching for a variety of musical selections to be included on a compilation CD. The project will bring together various local musicians interested in participating in a charitable cause while promoting the treatment and care of lives affected by cancer.
What's in it for you? If your song is one of the 12-16 selected... - The CD will be promoted throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. - You / your band will be given space in the CD jacket to tell about yourselves and how to hear more of you! - You will have the opportunity to participate in a charitable cause that aims to raise cancer awareness, build morale and raise funds for cancer research. - You will maintain all rights to your song(s). - You may be able to receive a tax deduction for donating your work. - You may be selected to perform live at a benefit concert for the opening of Pacific Oncology Cancer Center.
How to apply? (See entry form...)
We ask that you submit the following:
- A donation of a fairly high-end recording (CD or digital preferred) of 1-2 songs (covers or originals) that would be appropriate for this project.
- If you don't have the means to record, please contact us directly. (We may be able to offer studio time at a discounted rate for a few select pieces.)
- A statement about the group/artist that could potentially be published as advertising.
- A personal statement about your desire to participate in this project. (2-3 sentences)
How will songs be ultimately selected?
There will be 2 screening processes:
The first screening will be done by a selection committee to review the appropriateness for the project (songs about killing your pet parakeet for example, would not be appropriate!)
- Specifically, we are looking for songs / instrumentals about overcoming adversity, hope, peace, taking on challenges, change, community.
- Basically, anything that you would want to listen to, if you or a family member carried a cancer diagnosis.
The second screening will be done by a focus group of patients from within Pacific Oncology.
